There is no objection from the Amsterdam University Fund if another fund also contributes to the financing of your activity.
Unfortunately, the Amsterdam University Fund does not have any funds at its disposal to facilitate the financing of foreign students. An exception to this applies to scholarships for refugee students from the Study without Borders Fund. If this is the case, please contact us.
Consult your student counselor to inform you about all available grants for students and PhD students.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply for grants after you have already started your activity. It is necessary to apply for a grant prior to the intended activity.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit an application for a grant after the deadline. In exceptional circumstances you can contact us by email via subsidieaanvragen-auf@uva.nl. Make sure that your situation and reason for missing the deadline is sufficiently motivated and enclose supporting documents for explanation.
The letter of recommendation must be written by at least one lecturer who is involved in the program and must be signed and printed on UvA paper. If an email is submitted, it must be clear that the email was sent from the teacher's email address.
The letter of recommendation should be specific to the applicant. The lecturer is free to decide the contents of the letter of recommendation. It is important for the teacher to motivate why he/she thinks the grant should be awarded to the applicant.
It is important to motivate what the personal reasons are for wanting to undertake an activity and to state what the added value is on a personal and academic level by undertaking this activity. The allowed size of the document is a maximum of two pages in A4 format.
Ensure that the application includes all required attachments. If this is not possible, instead send a document in the required field with an explanation of why the document cannot be submitted and when you plan to do so.
Save the documents with the title: [Request no.]_[Document]. You can find the four-digit reference number with your application. You can then send an email to subsidieaanvragen-auf@uva.nl with the subject '[Request no.] Additional documents'.
All grant applications will be reviewed during the next committee or board meeting. You will hear the decision within two weeks after the meeting. In case of travel grants you will hear the decision in principle within two weeks after the deadline.
All awarded travel grants will in principle be paid within two weeks upon receipt of travel tickets to the specified destination. Grants to student associations are paid after the event took place on the basis of a report on the study trip or the student project. Project grants are paid after completion of the project and the receipt of a report; the faculty is expected to pre-finance the grant. Sometimes grants are paid in installments and sometimes advance payments are possible.
The report is necessary as an accountability of the one who received the grant. We can use it to inform our donors about grants awarded. If we intend to use one of your photos for our website, online newsletter or other publications, we will ask your permission.
